Dato’ Magaret Ting Thien Hung

Dato’ Magaret Ting is the firm’s founder and Managing Partner. She graduated from the University of West of England, Bristol, United Kingdom in 2001 and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2003.

With more than 20 years of experience, Dato’ Magaret has counselled and represented domestic and international clients in numerous real estate transactions as well as advising multiple leading developers on direct and indirect acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, restructurings, and development projects.

Dato’ Magaret is also recognised notably for her expertise in achieving practical and effective solutions and regularly advises MNCs and SMEs on highly complex mergers & acquisitions in various industries, with a focus on share sale agreements, asset purchase agreements, joint venture or shareholders’ agreements, on general corporate and commercial matters and agreements.

Ms. Chai Bitt Yen

Ms Chai Bitt Yen graduated in the year of 2001 from the University of London with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours.

She began her chambers in Messrs Lim Kian Leong & Co. and thereafter she was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in the High Court of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur on 10th September 2004. She then continued her legal practice in Messrs Lim Kian Leong & Co. where she had been exposed to full court proceedings from hearings to full trials and gained expertise and experience in general litigation which covers commercial law, contractual disputes, debt recovery, land acquisition, personal and corporate insolvency matters.

In August 2005, she decided to extend her practice in Sabah and chambered in Messrs Shim Pang & Co. She was subsequently admitted as an Advoate and Solicitor in the High Court of Sabah on 18th November 2005. She continued her practice in Messrs Shim Pang & Co. in Tawau, Sabah. She handled the portfolio of the banking litigation and was actively involved in the matters of land disputes, commercial and construction disputes, industrial claims, criminal matters, injunctions, divorce and family matters, probate and administration. Her work in these areas range from providing advisory services to claiming and defending clients in court proceedings. At the same time, she also monitored both litigation and conveyancing matters of the branch office in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

In March 2008, she joined Messrs Lawrence Chai, Peter Soong & Partners and headed the litigation division of the firm. She also set up a branch office in Lahad Datu, Sabah and managed the branch office. With her lead, the branch office had garnered extensive clientele mainly in oil palm industry from upstream to downstream sectors. The branch office had also obtained panelships in many development companies and most of the major financial institutions in Lahad Datu, Sabah. During her tenure there, she had gained expertise and experience in conveyancing matter extensively ranging from providing legal advices, drafting all sorts of commercial contracts, agreements and legal documents in various industries, monitoring the loan documentation process.

In July 2011, she decided to indulge herself in pursuing her interest in accountancy. She then graduated in 2013 from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia with Master of Professional Accounting with Distinction.

In March 2016, she was invited to join Messrs Ting & Ting to continue in pursuing her legal career.
